AT HOME  WITH MULTIPLE  AWARDS WINNER 9ICE
With the release of his third album 9ice real name Abolore Akande, has no doubt become a household name and perhaps a force to reckon with. It's not been an easy journey for the artists who in 2008 won MOBO's African Artist of the Year and was invited to perform at the Nelson Mandela international Birthday Celebration.  He spoke to Ovation recently at his home in Lagos.

How did you come about the title Gongo Aso

The title of Gongo Aso came at the end of my album, the title of the album was supposed to be "My Dictionary" and the song came up at the last minute. I was in the studio working with a friend of mine, Mark Rich and after recording the song, we shot the video when and I listened to the beat of the song. I told  Mark that I could still write another song on the beat, so we went back to the studio and we recorded another song on the beat, I removed the beat and I did another beat on it and it became Gongo Aso. So Gongo Aso was the only track I promoted before the full album was released and it eventually became a huge success for me.

MY RELATIONSHIP WITH 9ICE –RUGGEDMAN

Top Nigerian artiste, Ruggedman is in the news again. He has a new work in the market and recently, he invited friends and fans to a listening party to launch the work. Days later, we had this chat with him

Congratulations on your new album, tell us about it

Thank you. It is an album I have been working on for a while and I am happy the way it has turned out. I have quite a line up of wickid (top range) artistes on it; ranging from OJB,2Face,P.Square,MI,Ice Prince,Kash Eleven,Vino,Da Grin (may his soul rest),Mallam Spicy,YQ,So Sick,Lil Jojo,Gino on it.

I also worked with great producers like So Sick,E Twins,Sarz,P.Square,Tyrone and Puffy T. I chose to work with them because they are artistes I am cool with and we will all add value to each others' career.

The studio experience was always different but great. We always had mad fun.

I DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL FOR MUSIC
After spending many years in the United States, Olufemi Adeyinka, younger brother to the popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st. has decided to come back to his country of birth to do what he knows how to do best - Music.

An indication that he is back with a bang and ready to deliver was his superlative performance at the last edition of the Ovation  Red Carol held at the prestigious Ocean view, Victoria Island, Lagos in December, 2009-and ever since, he has been getting shows.

WHY I LEFT  EXPLICIT – Posly
Born into the Royal family of late Ooni of Ife, Oba Adesoji Aderemi (1930-1980), Ifeoluwa Aderemi a.k.a Posly Td is one young guy that is poised to rule Nigerian music.

The Leaed City University of Ibadan undergraduate of Mass Communication started his musical career in Sacred Heart and Fola Model College in Ibadan where he usually rapped and his Principal, discovered his innate talent. He then decided to horn his skills.

WHY I AM STILL WITH  KENNIS MUSIC –ESSENCE

on the beat with a new song, Essentially, in this interview she spoke about the album and more.
How did you come about the title, Kalangolo
"Kalangolo" chorus was given to me by the producer K. Solo. I was advised to do a song that will be street credible because everybody knows Essence as an R&B soul singer. So the fans said Essence, we want to dance and I was like how do I come out of my comfort zone. I called K Solo and he said I have a beat and chorus for you and the title of the song is Kalangolo. I was like, what is the meaning of that? He said it is basically a street slang and I said ok. So I listened to the chorus and he did the guide and I wrote the song. By my own interpretation Kalongo,is that feeling you cannot explain. Someone on the internet after the song came out and said thank you for giving us a word to explain those feelings we can't explain, I don't know if you understand that aspect, (laughs).
What aspect
