In commemoration of the two years anniversary of the administration of His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, a massive road project has been commissioned, as part of the many projects earmarked for commissioning, by a former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at a well organised ceremony.
The dualised road, situated at the Okefia Lameco area of the capital city, was declared open before a crowd of dignitaries including Osun State first class chiefs, Senator Dino Melaye, Otunba Fasewe, Sir Shina Peters, and members of the 8th Senate. Others include members of the general public, artisans, party loyalists, and top government officials.
In his speech, the Governor paid glowing tributes to distinguished members of his cabinet, who have toiled day and night to ensure the programmes of the administration are fully utilized to the welfare of the Osun citizens, his party members and the people of the state.
He described the occasion as historical while highly eulogising the contributions of the late Asiwaju of Osogbo land, Abdulfatai Adekilekun Ajadi Badmus, after whom the newly commissioned road was named.
“He was a true patriot with whom we conceived the ongoing transformation of the state capital.
“In honour of this illustrious son of Osogboland, i hereby name the completed dualisation, Abdulfatai Adekilekun Ajadi Badmus Freeway,” the Governor announced.
Adeleke went further to intimate the guests and general public that the dream of his administration is to “build a sustainable modern capital city for all Osun indigenes and non-indigenes alike.”
While expressing sincere gratitude to former President Obasanjo for his constant support and counseling, he noted that Osun is the cradle of Yorubaland and so determined to grow the capital and state for present and future generations.
“Our Infrastructural agenda is not a political show. We are focused on making history and leave a legacy of service to our people. We want history to record us true agents of good governance.
“In our quest to develop the capital city, we aee upgrading all major towns and zones. We are targeting infra-upgrade of Ile-Ife, Ilesa, Ikire among others,” the governor disclosed.
In his response before cutting the tape to declare the road open for public use, the special guest of honour, Obasanjo, lauded Governor Adeleke for proving naysayers wrong, and going ahead to become an outstanding performer, who consistently dishes out good governance amid his dancing gestures.
He also reminded the governor that there are still two more years ahead to unleashed more of his developmental projects as this is ‘midterm’.
Governor Adeleke assumed leadership of Osun State on November 27, 2022 after a resoundingly victory at polls, defeating the then incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola.
Adeleke, who is also called the dancing Governor, as a result of his jovial disposition to the sound of music, showed he was not cut out for jokes when at the marking of his 100 days in office, he raked in enough achievements that placed him as a reference point in the scheme of governance.
