AMIABLE RETIRED OFFICER AND GENTLEMAN CHIEF TUNJI ALAPINI SPEAKS EXCLUSIVE TO OVATION ON TURNING 70

Without any shadow of doubt, he is a loyal officer who served Nigeria with pride and distinction. At seventy, Chief Tunji Alapini NPM, Msc Psc, mni, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) still cuts a trim figure like a man in his 50s.

Dashing, humble and amiable, he is probably the only one among his peers who has as many young friends as he has old ones on account of his sterling accomplishments in and out of the uniform. His 70th birthday party, hosted by family and a few friends was classy and glamorous.

Held at the Civic Centre in Lagos, the event where SB and his band performed with Tee A and Gbenga Adeyinka as comperes was an evening to remember. Long after that jolly good night, OVATION International Editor, Michael Effiong James had an exclusive interview with Chief Alapini whose traditional titles include: Bobadara of Egbaland, Atobase Okemesi Ekiti, Maiyegun Edunabon,Atayese of Akinale, Akogun of Itoriland, Aremo Towulade of Akinale, Maiyegun of Owu Kingdom, Aare Agbonfinro of Iperu, Otunba Akogun of Ike-Ila Orangun, Otun Oluwo Adimula of The Source, Ile Ife and Fiwajoye of Iloko- Ijesa, where he spoke extensively about life, service and turning 70.
