Stanbic IBTC Hosts Exclusive Dinner For Clents

In a bid to say a big thank you to its clients, Stanbic IBTC
hosted an exclusive event which chronicled

the history of music across Africa. The event was the appropriate recipe for a
memorable year end celebration and an appreciation for the company’s clients
and the African culture.

The event, which took place at The Civic Centre, kicked off with cocktails and
guests were treated to sumptuous canopies, exotic drinks and a selection of
Jazz numbers played in the most eclectic style. Thereafter, guests were ushered
into a tastefully decorated Banquet hall, specially equipped to offer the
experience of a lifetime.

The minute the guests were seated and proceedings for the beautiful night were
about to unfold, a minute silence was observed for late President of South
Africa and African icon, Nelson Mandela, who passed on that day. The minute of
silence over, the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Mrs. Sola
David-Borha, officially welcomed guests to what would turn out to be a very
exciting event.

The highpoint of the evening was an earth-moving and professionally scripted
musical performance laced with rich African culture. The musical titled, Saro,
was produced by Nigeria’s own Terra Kulture, the leading cultural entertainment
outfit in the county.

The musical was an intriguing story of some migrants who came to Lagos with
hopes, dreams and aspirations. It was the story of the journey to success,
entwined with elements of trials, love, hope and self- actualisation.

The musical performance also showcased the rich culture of the African
continent; a very familiar geography for Stanbic IBTC Holdings and its parent
company, Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest bank by assets. With the
performance, Stanbic IBTC portrayed the rich retail footprint of Standard Bank
Group in the 18 countries where the group operates in Africa.

Beautiful renditions were delivered to portray the success stories of music
legends across Africa, ranging from FelaAnikulapoKuti to Brenda Fassie; and
from D’Banj to Mariam Makeba. The evening ended with a vote of thanks from the
Executive Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, Mr. Victor Williams and
guests left the venue filled with awe at the amazing heritage of Nigeria and
the various African countries showcased.
